Waiting Well Standard Operating Procedure (S115)
This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been developed to set out the expected clinical standards for DCHS and DHCFT by which we manage our access to services for people who are either not yet receiving a service from a specific team or who are awaiting this intervention. There will continue to be a DCHS and DHCFT policy and procedure due to systems and governance and to refer to the relevant one as appropriate. This SOP is to support the safety and well-being of service users (and those around them) who are waiting to access our services.
Liquid Nitrogen - Storage, Use and Transportation Guidance and Code of Practice Standard Operating Procedure (S39)
This guidance is intended to provide information on the hazards and risks associated with the storage, use and transportation of Liquid Nitrogen and the control measures which are to be used. The contents of this guidance should be brought to the attention of all users of liquid nitrogen. This information is to be be supplemented by appropriate training and demonstration where specific tasks are undertaken.
SOP For Designated Staff Accepting Influenza Vaccines Delivered from Walton Hospital Pharmacy Across Nominated DCHS Sites (S100)
Flu vaccination is offered to DCHS staff annually. Supplies are delivered directly to Walton Hospital Pharmacy, from where they need to be distributed to sites in a number of locations across Derbyshire prior to use. Flu vaccines require cold storage, in line with the product license. It is important to maintain the cold chain at all times as temperature excursions can adversely affect stability of the product. To set out a clear process for staff receiving deliveries of flu vaccinations in DCHS from Walton Hospital Pharmacy to ensure the cold chain is maintained and staff know what to do in the event of any breach.
Potassium Permanganate SOP (S103)
The aim of this Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is to provide staff with safety information and clear processes to follow for patients under their care who are prescribed or using potassium permanganate, or where it is required to be stored. This SOP forms part of DCHS’s response to the National Patient Safety Alert.
Missing Patient Procedure Including Section 18 Concern for Safety and Welfare (S23)
This procedure has been developed to inform hospital staff what action to take when a detained patient is absent without leave from the hospital where they are liable to be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. Guidance when an informal patient’s whereabouts is unknown and this includes patients that may be missing from other in-patient areas. The procedure aims to provide a consistent and easy to follow approach thus supporting the staff and protecting some of our most at risk and vulnerable patients.
