About our Service
We are small team of Therapists who have specialist skills in the treatment and management of stroke and other neurological disorders.
The Therapist will work with you to help improve your physical and/or cognitive capabilities. The Therapist will focus on maximising your independence in those daily activities that are most important to you for example: personal care, hobbies and leisure, work and mobility. The Therapist can also help you with emotional and adjustment issues following your stroke or living with a neurological condition.
We cover (GP dependant) High Peak, North Dales, South Derbyshire Dales
There will be an initial discussion which may be carried out over the telephone. Followed by an assessment, that will usually be completed in your own home but in some cases may be in your local out-patient department.
About your appt – length of appt/ do I need to bring anything/ text messages (use SLTs)
Initial appt are approx. 60 mins. The number and length of treatment sessions will be discussed and planned with you and will depend on:
- The findings of the initial assessment and the agreed goals.
- How much therapy you can tolerate.
- Your motivation and willingness to participate.
Transport
We operate a mixture of community and outpatient work. We can come to you, but you might be asked to attend a venue.
Can I bring a family member? Happy to have family participate in your rehab. (In fact, we encourage it)
Can I have an Interpreter? Yes and we can book them to attend the sessions or over the telephone.
