About us

The MSK CATS service is led by a team of Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners and Clinical Specialists. This service is designed for people with more complex problems which may need further assessment or referral for further specialist treatment.

The aim of the service is to work with you to decide on the best way to manage your condition and to make sure that you are referred to the most appropriate place to achieve this. Our team will assess your problem and explain what could be causing your symptoms. Where appropriate, they can refer for further investigations such as X Rays and MRIs to help with diagnosis.

They will discuss potential treatment options with you and help you to reach a decision about the right treatment for you. They can refer you to our Outpatient Musculoskeletal Therapy service, or other services such as podiatry. Where needed, they can also refer you to the hospital, for example if you need to see an orthopaedic or rheumatology consultant.

We only accept referrals into our MSK CATS service from GPs and consultants. Self-referral is not available for this service.

If you are waiting for a hospital appointment, a procedure or treatment, you can now access an online platform called My Planned Care which gives you direct access to average waiting times as well as helpful advice and support whilst you wait.

You don’t need to ring your GP, or the hospital caring for you for an update on waiting times as all of the information will be available on the My Planned Care website.
