Service road closure at Walton Hospital this Saturday morning
The service road at Walton Hospital will be closed this Saturday (18 January) from 6:45am until 1pm to enable a delivery of corridor modules for the new community diagnostic centre (CDC) to be craned into position. The main modules to house the consulting and imaging rooms for the diagnostic facilities are already in place and interior work is coming along quickly, with internal wall frameworks taking shape, as you can see from this photo.
On Saturday, access to the bottom car park, the Peter McCarthy Suite and the wards will not be restricted. Drivers will be directed to exit the hospital site via the bottom car park. Banks people will be on duty at key points to redirect patients and staff from the top car park during the crane lifts.
Opening in Summer, the £5.2m development is part of a £29.9m investment in community diagnostic facilities across Derby and Derbyshire and marks the second centre in north Derbyshire - the other is located at Whitworth Hospital, Darley Dale.
The 'one-stop-diagnostic-shop’ at Walton Hospital will house ten clinic rooms for diagnostic services such as blood tests and ultrasounds, as well as cardiology and x-ray. It will also have a dedicated space for a CT scanner.
