Queens Court Day Centre

Queens Court Day Services is located in the heart of Buxton. It is unique in its integrated approach to older persons day care as it is jointly staffed and funded by Derbyshire community health services (NHS) and Derbyshire County council.

We offer day services over 5 days a week to people with higher moderate to critical needs within the main centre and provide regular carers groups.

We have well planned physically and mentally stimulating activities to suit each individual.

What we can offer:

  • Socialising with our well-trained staff and other service users
  • Crafts and arts,
  • Dailly music with singing and dancing, this sometimes includes professional acts
  • Quizzes and Bingo
  • Summertime gardening
  • Animal workshops
  • Otago, a specialised exercise programme designed to strengthen muscle. Research has shown it helps to prevent falls.
  • And many more

If required, you will receive assistance and support with personal care, this includes assistance with bathing. Our skilled and caring staff are fully trained in person-centred dementia care and hold regular Carers meetings.

Monthly, we have a topic focus and cover Local and national initiatives like healthy eating, pressure ulcer awareness and living well with dementia programmes.

Memory based activities are encouraged to enhance well-being, independence and maintenance of present skills and abilities.

Other medical services are available to day care users on site, for example, Nail care, nursing and occupational therapy, health checks and venepuncture.

We work alongside many different agencies and are well placed to signpost yourself or carer to services that may be needed.

Our site is also used by Derbyshire recovery partnership and District nurse clinics.

Access to these services are currently Via Derbyshire county council.The person must have been assessed by a health or social care professional and meet the national eligibility criteria for care and support services.

Monday to Friday: 9.00am to 3.00pm.
