28th August 2024
World Suicide Prevention Day is on 10 September.
This year's theme is ‘Change the narrative #StartTheConversation’.
We can all play a role in helping to prevent suicide by starting open and honest discussions about suicide and suicidal behaviours:
- Why not spend 20 minutes completing the Zero Suicide Alliance training which is now available on ESR? This short training aims to give you the skills and confidence to support someone who may be considering suicide - you could potentially help to save a life.
- Why not request a suicide awareness session for your team? These sessions last approximately one hour and cover risk factors for suicide, spotting the signs of suicidal ideation, and how you can help. If you wish to book a session for your team at a time that suits you, please get in touch with Wendy Hodgkinson.
- Why not take action as a service? If you are wanting to develop your service or team to take a suicide prevention approach, contact Caroline Savidge.
- Or, why not get involved with some of our activities this year? There will be pop-up stalls in locations across the Trust. Where you can come and find out what support is available locally. Or join us at the Suicide Prevention Celebration Day in Buxton on 7 September - a day to celebrate and raise awareness of the many organisations and people who support suicide prevention. We look forward to seeing you there.
