It takes teamwork to deliver a complex new health facility on the site of a working hospital and keep everything running smoothly.

Everyone involved in the project to deliver a shiny new Community Diagnostic Centre at Walton Hospital has aced it!

The rollcall of people who have played a key part in the project, from the initial drawing board stage to the official opening of the completed building on 10 September 2025, is long!

It takes teamwork, different skill sets and professional expertise, to reach the end goal of delivering a new facility for the benefit of patients in the local community.

A shout-out to Walton Hospital receptionists Tracey McCann and Charlotte Husband, for all the upheaval required to close the old reception one night and open up in the new location at 8am the following morning.

Thank you to the contractors, engineers and architects who made sure we had a building of high quality to open. Pictured are representatives of main contractors Actiform, EP Consulting, Make Consulting and AHP Architects with our own NHS estates project manager Steve Ward and NHS gardening team John Sheppard and Ivan Gooding who provided the landscaping.

And the homegrown talent at Walton Hospital who pitched in to ensure we could open a gleaming new building…

Heartfelt thanks go to our DCHS capital and estates team, our Walton integrated facilities management team and the deep clean team, including supervisor Janette Wright and storekeeper Eamonn Chapman for ensuring the rooms were ready and fully stocked.

Sue Barton, IFM locality manager (north) and Val Moores, IFM operational manager for Walton Hospital and Chesterfield locality, both played pivotal roles during the 18 months of the construction project in supporting the new build project and keeping all other services running simultaneously. And appreciation goes to catering manager Isobel Foster and her Walton catering team for providing the refreshments for the official opening.

Thank you all.
