Updated plans for Belper’s proposed new base for community health services to be shared on 27 January
Revised plans for a new base for Belper’s community health services, situated on the site of the former Belper Clinic, will be shared during a virtual meeting on Thursday 27 January at 6pm.
Members of the public are welcome to attend to hear from the architects on the design of the new building and from representatives of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust which is leading on the development.

Plans for a new build on the site were originally shared in December 2019 but progress was then interrupted by the pandemic crisis response. The plans have since been revised following further discussions with the Environment Agency to mitigate future possible flooding risk.
The purpose of the virtual meeting on 27 January is to provide an opportunity for questions and comments over the proposed plans before a formal planning application is submitted to Amber Valley Borough Council in the coming weeks.
William Jones, chief operating officer and deputy chief executive for Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, who leads the Belper health redevelopment project, said: “We are very excited to be able to share these updated plans and architect’s drawings for transforming health facilities for patients in Belper.”
The revised scheme honours all the promises made to local people in the engagement process of 2018, called Joined Up Care in Belper, to develop services fit for the 21st century in a sustainable way and in line with the ambitions set out in Joined Up Care Derbyshire to replace out-dated facilities at Babington Hospital.
NHS Property Services, which owns the Babington Hospital and Belper Clinic site, agreed to the sale of the southern portion of the site including Belper Clinic, to Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust to enable the health services redevelopment to go ahead.
Any questions or comments about the virtual meeting or the planning proposals ahead of the meeting on 27 January, should be emailed to: dchst.communications@nhs.net.
