21st June 2024
From Wednesday 26 June, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS) will be reintroducing services at Ilkeston Hospital’s urgent treatment centre (UTC) on a phased basis. A phased approach will allow the Trust to ensure the reintroduction is managed safely and effectively, maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Key points:
- From Wednesday 26 June, Ilkeston UTC will operate an appointment-only service from 10am to 6pm, seven days a week.
- For certain very specific presentations/injuries, patients may still be asked to attend at Ripley rather than Ilkeston, but it is expected this will be very limited number.
- Ripley UTC will continue to operate an appointment and walk-in service daily from 8am – 8pm, with appointments available via NHS 111.
- DCHS will continue to see and treat broadly the same number of patients across both sites as they have been in recent months.
- All other patient services at Ilkeston and Ripley Hospitals are unaffected.
- This phased return will enable DCHS to manage the current staffing challenges and continue to provide high-quality urgent care services for local communities.
- Various refurbishments have also been carried out to improve the care environment at Ilkeston UTC, ready for when the service returns on Wednesday 26 June.
DCHS continues to strengthen its staffing, actively training and inducting new starters into clinical leadership positions. The Trust is committed to restoring a full service at Ilkeston as soon as it can safely do so.
