Social media incident: update
A spokesperson on behalf of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust said:
“On the afternoon of Tuesday 14 November 2023, we became aware of a very offensive comment on Instagram following a number of complaints about one of our employees. We immediately carried out an internal investigation and the matter was also reported to the police.
“Today, 22 November 2023, the police have confirmed, following their investigation and digital forensic analysis, that this is a very unfortunate case of mistaken identity. Our NHS employee has no connection whatsoever to the online comment and is completely innocent of any wrongdoing.
“A number of our staff have faced completely unacceptable and extremely serious online and verbal abuse as a direct result of this mistaken identity. We also have a zero acceptance approach to any form of abuse, discrimination or aggression towards our staff. We won’t tolerate this type of behaviour and we continue to fully support the ongoing police investigation into the malicious communications against our employee.”
Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust unequivocally condemns the original online comment.
