NHS Board signs up to Smokefree Derby and Derbyshire pledge

The Board of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust has formally signed the Smokefree Derby and Derbyshire pledge, underlining the organisation’s commitment to a shared goal of a smoke-free Derby and Derbyshire by 2030.

Smokefree Derby and Derbyshire is a partnership between local authorities and health services, working together to help people quit smoking, offer free tailored support and nicotine-replacement therapy, and create smoke-free environments across the city and county.

Commenting on the pledge, chief executive, Jim Austin, said: “We’re very proud to support the Smokefree Derby and Derbyshire pledge, helping to make our communities healthier for everyone.”

In a few weeks we’ll be heading towards the new year when many people use the opportunity to make commitments to their health and wellbeing.

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust is looking forward to playing its part in supporting people to quit smoking with the help of the local, free stop smoking service run by Live Life Better Derbyshire.

Live Life Better Derbyshire offers 12 weeks of support, with vapes and nicotine replacement therapy sent straight to your door. They can give you advice on stop smoking medications and have a range of support options from one to one appointments to telephone calls. Appointments with the stop smoking advisors are usually provided within two weeks.
