Bluebell Ward opens at Walton Hospital
Walton Hospital’s revamp reached another milestone on 23 May with the ceremonial opening of Bluebell ward, in conjunction with Derbyshire Healthcare. The ward offers a purpose-designed environment to care for older adults with functional mental health issues and it was opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE.
Bluebell Ward has been refurbished with a £2.8 million investment to create an optimal environment for 12 patients to receive specialised mental health care. Under the Making Room for Dignity programme, dormitory-style accommodation is being replaced within Derbyshire Healthcare’s mental health inpatient facilities in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Community Health Services’ chief executive Jim Austin was among invited guests (pictured). Read more here: Derbyshire Healthcare officially opens newly refurbished Bluebell Ward in Walton, Chesterfield for older adults with mental health needs : DCHS
Thanks to all Walton Hospital’s facilities management and capital and estates colleagues whose support was invaluable during this major refurbishment project.
