Step Up to the challenge
Want to build positive and sustainable physical habits? Join our ‘Step up to the challenge'!
Step Up to The Challenge is a virtual walking challenge brought to you in collaboration with Myles Wellbeing. The virtual walking challenge will run for three months from 2nd September 2024 until 30th November 2024, with an exciting new challenge each month. During the course of the challenge, participants can earn ‘Smyles’, these are points you collect for the activity you do, which can then be redeemed for a variety of gift vouchers, up to a total of £10. You can also be in with a chance of winning a £100 Amazon voucher, courtesy of Staff Benefits, as everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw.
Taking part in physical activity challenges can have a profound impact on physical and mental health. Some benefits include feeling more energised, reduction in stress, feeling happier, increase confidence and self-esteem and overall improved health and wellbeing.
Walking is a low-impact activity that can be enjoyed by people of all fitness levels and ages. Virtual challenges offer a fun and motivating way to stay active and improve health and wellbeing and are great for those who want to want to stay active but cannot commit to a set time and location.
Even being outside has a positive impact on wellbeing.
Any member of staff, bank staff and volunteers can take part.
You will need to complete this short MS Form to sign up with the Wellbeing Team.
You will then receive an invite to a registration event on the 2nd September 2024. If you can’t make the session, you will be emailed the same day with instructions on how to complete the registration and everything you need to know to begin the challenge.
Spaces are limited to 100 colleagues from DCHS & 100 colleagues from Derbyshire Healthcare.
The virtual challenge has been paid for with the funds raised by colleagues who took part in the ‘peak challenge’ earlier this year. We will encourage you to fundraise for this challenge, though this is not mandatory. If you can fundraise, whatever you raise, from £5 to £500, will continue to support activity challenges for the wellbeing of staff.
We recommend asking your friends, family or colleagues to sponsor you to undertake this exciting challenge. You might want to contribute yourself, or hold an event to raise money, for example a bake sale. Whatever you choose, every penny will go toward a future challenge. We will email you with the details for sharing the just giving page or you can view the page here.
