Supporting neurodivergent team members and Access to Work
During ADHD Awareness Month we are hosting this interactive, practical session which is aimed at managers to support them to understand the Access to Work process and their role in it.
Delivered by Kerry Pace from Diverse Learners who is currently working in partnership with DCHS to raise awareness of the Access to Work scheme, ran by Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), who provide grants to support disabled and/or neurodivergent employees in the workplace with software, equipment, human support, travel, mental health and adaptions.
Overview of session content:
- Overview of Neurodiversity (ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism)
- Reasonable Adjustments – examples, what the law says, your responsibilities.
- Access to Work
- What you can get – software, equipment, human support, travel, adaptations
- The application process and timeframes
- Employers contribution/what can be reclaimed
- Example of a grant letter – it’s importance, content and logging details
- How to complete a claim for a reimbursement of a reasonable adjustment and timeframes
- Renewal and timeframe
Each of the dates will be aimed at a particular area of the process and tickets can be accessed through Eventbrite on links below.
- Wednesday 9th October 11-12.30 pm (Training for Managers) Supporting neurodivergent team members and access to work
- Tuesday 29th October 11-12.30 pm (Training to support anyone applying for AtoW) supporting neurodivergent colleagues and access to work
- Tuesday 26th November 10-11.30 am (Training for Procurement & Finance and Admin Staff that may be responsible for completing forms) Supporting neurodivergent colleagues and the access to work process (session aimed at Finance, Procurement & Admin)
- Tuesday 3rd December 11-12.30 pm (Training for Occupational Health, HR & EDI). Supporting neurodivergent colleagues and the access to work process (session aimed at Occupational Health, HR and EDI)
