The results from the 2025 Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) have now been published and we’d like to give a special shoutout to colleagues across our integrated facilities management (IFM) and estates teams. Feedback from assessors across our community hospitals highlighted many positives including friendly and supportive staff, good food choices, clean and welcoming environments and well-maintained grounds.
PLACE assessments look at important aspects of the patient environment including cleanliness, food and hydration, maintenance, privacy and dignity and how well our environments support people with dementia or disabilities. These assessments are carried out with patient assessors and form part of the information used nationally to understand the quality of healthcare environments. Huge thanks to everyone involved in supporting the assessments – and particular thanks go to our IFM colleagues and estates teams, who play such an important role in ensuring our sites remain safe, welcoming and supportive places for patients, visitors and staff.
