Frequently asked questions

Monday 13 January 2025. But we advise teams to introduce the permits as soon as they have them to iron out any practicalities amongst their teams.

No, this won’t be possible as there will be no way to know at what time someone arrived once the car has been parked and is unoccupied. But there are two drop-off/pick-up loading bays for short stays of 30 minutes or less.

CHP advise us that permits will be required to be displayed for parking in staff bays seven days a week and may potentially be checked at any time, although out-of-hours staff at St Oswald’s Hospital are allowed to park in staff bays without permits for night shifts on the ward or evening work, for example domestic duties.

Yes, that’s fine. DCHS colleagues don’t need to be on Easy Pay to claim back parking fees via petty cash. The amount of petty cash held at both sites will be increased to accommodate people’s requests.

Unfortunately, no. All available permits have been allocated. We recommend that team leaders and service managers who are responsible for distributing the available permit(s) within their teams also establish a review process to maximise the use of permits.

You can use the two drop-off/pick-up loading bays at each site. The time limit is 30 minutes maximum.

We have been in touch with the district council. CHP has also been in contact with the council around the possibility of an arrangement for NHS staff to park at the leisure centre at a reduced, corporate rate. This currently seems unlikely to be agreed by the council, but we will pursue this for a definitive answer. For now at least, parking at the leisure centre will incur the standard council charges.

We are told that the Horizon parking app has the facility to obtain a receipt by logging into your account, viewing your bookings and printing/emailing receipts. It’s an audit requirement that any requests for reimbursement of money should be accompanied by an original receipt/ticket, however we appreciate that’s not always possible. If this proves difficult, we could look at the possibility of accepting screenshots, but people should be working on the assumption that original receipts/tickets are needed to claim back parking fees.
