‘Neuro Bods’ running challenge for Parkinson’s disease
Our Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Neuro Outpatients team are taking on a running challenge on Sunday 30 April to run/walk between their four working sites to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
“We work for DCHS as physiotherapists, occupations therapists and therapy support workers providing assessment and treatment for people living with Parkinson’s disease. We see the daily challenges that people face and some of us within the team have experience Parkinson’s closer to home and know the impact that this condition has on the individual and their loved ones.”
The team will travel from:
- Springs Health Centre in Clowne to Stubley Medical Centre in Dronfield (12 miles)
- Stubley Medical Centre to Walton Hospital in Chesterfield (8 miles)
- Walton Hospital to Clay Cross Hospital (5 miles – the whole team will walk this last leg)
This will be just short of a marathon distance!
The team will run each leg in at least pairs before coming together as a full team to walk the last five miles.
The team said: “We, as therapists encourage our patients to set goals and complete regular exercise. As a team, we would like to show our patients that we can do the same!”
If you would like to donate, please visit their fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/Neuro-Bods. JustGiving sends your donation straight to Parkinson’s UK and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
Good luck to everyone involved!
