Lynne’s Nursing Times judging journey
Lynne Yates is a DCHS advanced clinical practitioner and Queen’s Nurse. Last year she was honoured to be asked to be a judge for the Nursing Times Awards. She explains: “I was a judge for the older persons’ nursing award and Gemma del Toro for community nursing.
The process started very early in the year when we were invited to judge. In June we reviewed and scored all the entries for our categories to determine the shortlist. For the second stage of judging, we spent a day at the Nursing Times’ head office in London, where we saw face-to-face presentations from the shortlisted entrants, and we then had to decide our category winner. We were then invited as VIPs to the NT award ceremony and I was asked to present an award on stage (and managed not to fall on my nose, ha-ha).
We were both truly humbled and honoured to be part of the NT awards. Recognising the dedication and hard work of our fellow nurses was a great privilege. Representing our trust and the esteemed Queen’s Nurses was a very proud moment for us both.”
