Important Safety Notice: Proper Use of Portable Electric Heaters

As the temperature drops, many of us rely on portable electric heaters to keep our workspaces cozy. While these devices are effective at providing warmth, it's crucial to use them safely to prevent accidents and ensure everyone's well-being. We want to remind you of some important safety guidelines when using portable electric heaters:

  • Approved Heaters Only: Use only approved portable electric heaters that meet safety standards and have been certified by relevant authorities.
  • Placement: Place heaters on a flat, stable surface, away from combustible materials such as papers, fabrics, or curtains.
  • Maintain a safe distance of at least three feet from flammable objects.
  • Power Source: Plug heaters directly into wall outlets. Avoid using extension cords or power strips, as they can overheat and pose a fire risk.
  • Supervision: Never leave heaters unattended. Turn them off and unplug them when not in use or at the end of the workday.
  • Overheating: Avoid overheating by using heaters with built-in safety features like automatic shut-off switches if they tip over or overheat.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the heater. Do not block air vents or place objects on top of heaters.
  • Maintenance: Regularly inspect heaters for any signs of damage or wear. Report any malfunctioning or damaged heaters immediately for maintenance or replacement.
  • Awareness: Familiarise yourself with the specific guidelines provided by the manufacturer for the safe use of the particular heater model.
  • Fire Safety: Have fire safety equipment nearby and know the location of fire extinguishers. In case of a fire hazard, immediately switch off the heater and evacuate the area.

Remember, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. By adhering to these safety measures, we can ensure a warm and secure working environment for everyone.
