Digital ReSPECT: connecting care across Derbyshire

The digital Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment (ReSPECT) went live earlier this year on the Derbyshire Shared Care Record (DSCR), supporting clinicians across Derbyshire to coordinate emergency care and treatment plans more effectively.

Since launch, more than 8,000 digital ReSPECT plans have been created, with strong adoption and engagement across the system:

  • DSCR logins have increased by 45 per cent.
  • 88 per cent of GP practices are now using ReSPECT within the DSCR.
  • 10 per cent of Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS) staff have started to create digital ReSPECT plans in the DSCR, supporting over 3,000 patients - the highest engagement from any single organisation.
  • 83 per cent of organisations on the DSCR have started to create Digital ReSPECT, with Chesterfield Hospital and DHFT due to launch next as the largest remaining sites.

By allowing multiple organisations - including hospitals, primary care, and hospices - to update a single plan, digital ReSPECT reduces duplication, improves communication, and ensures patients’ care preferences and clinical recommendations are visible to all relevant professionals.

To access the new digital ReSPECT plans, please ensure you have access to DSCR. If you need further information or support on the DSCR, please contact: crhft.DSCRservicedesk@nhs.net or call 01246 512646.

Further information on how to create digital ReSPECT plans on the DSCR is available on the Derbyshire Alliance End of Life toolkit website.
