Black History Month - Reclaiming Narratives

October is Black History Month, and this year’s theme is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, recognising and correcting the narratives of black history and culture. Our EmbRACE staff network is finalising plans for various activities, one of which is the unveiling of special plaques to commemorate the Windrush generation and the contribution they’ve made to the NHS and the country. We’re doing this jointly with the staff network at UHDB, and here are the details for the final unveiling:

  • 16 October from 2pm 3pm at Royal Derby Hospital.

We’re planning to do something similar on DCHS sites for Windrush Day in June next year and we'll share more detail nearer the time.

Workshop

30 October 2024 - 12pm (MS Teams)

Join us for a thought-provoking presentation that journeys through the rich and yet often silenced history of Black Britain. Using historical facts and figures woven together with multimedia sources, we share a story of Black History as an intrinsic part of Black History.
