Join our team as a community or practice nurse

We employ a range of nursing staff who come to us with a variety of backgrounds – fresh from university or training courses, from the acute sector, primary care, mental health, learning disability, schools or businesses as specialists in other sectors, and of course from other community trusts.

We have roles for community nurses, district nurses, health visitors, specialist school and childrens’ nurses, older people’s mental health and learning disability nurses and nurse associates and health care assistants.

More nurses than ever are working in community settings such as a GP practices, clinics, schools and community hospitals. We offer opportunities to registered nurses in many areas of practice.

Nursing vaccancies in Derby and Derbyshire

Return to practice programme

If you have previously been a registered nurse and wish to return to the profession, then you may need to undertake a return to practice programme.  We welcome return to nursing students and can offer you a variety of high quality clinical placements to support your progression towards becoming a registered practitioner once more.

We facilitate practice hours in our community hospitals and community nursing teams in adult and mental health fields, offering opportunities to regain the skills, knowledge and confidence to practice in your chosen area once re-registered.

We work with local universities

We work with the Universities of Derby, Lincoln and Northampton and once you have been accepted onto a programme you may request a placement with us. We will do our best to accommodate you in an area of relevance and interest to you.

Support

You will be supported by a sign-off mentor or practice teacher who will provide opportunities for you to gain competence and be assessed against Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) proficiencies to return to the register.

We hope you will choose us as your clinical experience and look forward to welcoming you into our teams, helping you on your way to becoming, once again, a valued member of the profession.
