Restrictive Practises
All Restrictive Practices must take into account capacity to consent, advance directives/statements, restriction of liberty, risk assessment, contingency planning, behavioural support planning, reactive and proactive strategies, primary, secondary and tertiary strategies Care must be delivered in a safe and positive manner to ensure restrictive practices used for calming behaviourally disturbed patients are used for the shortest possible time and are safely managed.
This care bundle describes six actions to ensure the best clinical outcome for patients who have received rapid tranquillisation medication. Care must be delivered in a safe and positive manner to ensure safe prescribing, administration and monitoring of medication used for calming behaviourally disturbed patients. Each described intervention will be required to be delivered, however these do not need to be completely sequentially.

Locking ward doors*
This care bundle describes seven actions to ensure the best clinical outcome for patients who have been affected by locking the doors on an OPERATIONALLY OPEN WARD. Care must be delivered in a safe and positive manner to ensure safe decision making and environmental controls for behaviourally disturbed wards. Each described intervention will be required to be delivered, however these do not need to be completely sequentially.
*The same interventions would be used for any decision to lock any other doors which are routinely open (gardens/bathrooms etc.)

Physical Restraint*
